We are an active group of people living in Dawlish, who care for the town’s future and that of its residents, of all ages. Our outlook is forward, and has a complementary role to many other voluntary groups and organisations in the town.
We endeavour to alert members to any large scale developments which affect Dawlish Town and its parish, and to represent their views. We are non-political, that is to say we have no allegiance to any single Political Party, and require our committee members to be independent of any political group. Our membership is drawn from all sectors of the community; and we are sensitive to the concerns of the business community.
We are a properly constituted Private Limited Company Registration ( England and Wales) number 4658371 .
The only approved Local Plan is that from 1996. Teignbridge District Council is introducing the new Local Development Framework ( www.teignbridge.gov.uk ) , and this will offer consultation with the community. We will keep you informed so that Dawlish can make its views known, once again.
DARE has contributed to debate over the statutory County Structure Plan for Devon by appearing at the Examination in Public in 2003. The approved document is available for study on the Devon County Council website ( www.devon.gov.uk ).
The South West Regional Assembly ( www.southwest-ra.gov.uk ) is the new planning body which will introduce a regional plan to succeed the County Structure Plans when they expire in 2016. DARE has made representations on early consultations, particularly concerning the Joint Study Areas of Exeter and Torbay. The Assembly publishes occasional Updates which can be obtained on request to them at Taunton.
